Testing Algorithm

If rapid HIV-1 and -2 antibody test is positive, then HIV antigen and antibody combination is performed. If HIV-1 antigen and antibody are reactive, then HIV-1/-2 antibody differentiation is performed. If reactive for both HIV-1 and HIV-2 or unreadable, then HIV-1 antibody confirmation Western blot and HIV-2 antibody confirmation is performed. If indeterminate for HIV-, then HIV-1 antibody confirmation Western blot is performed.
